The Superyacht Show 2018 in Barcelona

May 4, 2018

The Superyacht Show started yesterday in OneOcean Port Vell, Barcelona and will last till May 5th. The show is organised by the LYBRA (Large Yacht Brokers Association) and aims to offer both potential superyacht buyers and charterers the chance to step aboard some of the world’s leading yachts in an exclusive and private setting, according to YachtHarbour.

Running from 2 to 5 May, just before Mediterranean summer season, the event will be the only yacht show in Europe that focuses exclusively on serving consumers and will be held in a private marina in OneOcean Port Vell, Barcelona.

OneOcean Port Vell is a world-class superyacht marina, perfectly positioned in the heart of Barcelona. Originally built for the 1992 Olympic Games, the port recently completed its transformation to a 148-berth luxury facility, creating one of the ultimate destinations for yachts up to 190 metres. The luxury facilities ensure owners, guests, captains and crew have everything they need to enjoy the best in safety, security, comfort and entertainment while benefiting from all the services that this vibrant, cosmopolitan city can offer. We have the best of Barcelona and Catalunya on our doorstep, while the Mediterranean hotspots and islands are only a short cruise away

The Superyacht Show is being developed by the members of the Large Yacht Brokers Association (LYBRA), based in Monaco. This organization represents the leading superyacht brokerage companies worldwide; Burgess, Edmiston, Fraser, IYC, Merle Wood & Associates, Northrop & Johnson, Ocean Independence and Yachtzoo.

The Superyacht Show is one of several ways in which LYBRA aims to be a positive driver of change and improvements in the global industry. However, LYBRA is a trade association and it’s therefore important to note that The Superyacht Show will not be a trade event. Quite the opposite, the show is customer-centric, fully focused on the visitor experience like no other superyacht event worldwide. It is also important to note that the show is not solely for the benefit of LYBRA members. We aim to attract the very best yachting and luxury brands from around the world.

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, one of the world’s most vibrant and exciting destinations, is famous for its culture, architecture, design, beaches, nightlife and, of course, cuisine.

With something for everyone, drift between the luxury retail stores along Passeig de Gràcia and the boutiques of the Born district or roam the Gaudi monuments scattered around the city. For some down time, relax at one of the terraces and watch the world go by, or discover the gastronomic delights from traditional Catalan and Spanish cuisine to modern fusion prepared by world-renowned chefs. As the sun goes down, you will find more than enough entertainment amongst Barcelona’s eclectic mix of bars and clubs in the city’s diverse neighbourhoods.

The opening hours of The Superyacht Show 2018 will be from 10am to 6pm, apart from the final day (Saturday 5 May) when it finishes at the earlier time of 5pm. Over time, show is planning to develop into the definitive, pre-summer buying opportunity in the Mediterranean. The LYBRA members plan to bring together a world-class selection of superyachts in a private, luxurious setting to attract buyers and charterers alike.

Traditional boat shows have a strong business-to-business element whereby industry professionals come together to trade specialist products and services. These are essential elements for builders and operators, but they’re not conducive to creating a truly “luxury experience” for yacht buyers. The Superyacht Show will be a client-centric showcase that delivers the optimum buyer experience by attracting the highest quality superyachts and yachting companies, the most prestigious sponsors, global luxury brands and the most discerning visitors. The quayside experience for the ultra-high net worth clients and their representatives is specifically designed to be relaxed, elegant and enjoyable.

There are 60 spaces for yachts in the heart of OneOcean Port Vell and additional berths available as the show expands in future years. Any yacht owner who would like their yacht to appear in the show should speak to their broker or contact a member of LYBRA.
