You can now go heli-biking in the mountains in Alaska
Looking forward to next ski trip and can’t wait until winter comes? No more need to wait for a particular season. Heli-biking is the latest summer and autumn activity added to Tordillo Mountain Lodge's extensive and unique list of outdoor adventures.
Olympic Gold Medalist Tommy Moe, first American male to ever win two medals in a single Winter Olympic Games, partnered with the ownership of Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, a legendary Alaskan luxury heli-skiing resort, rated the best in the world. Moe and his partners Mike Overcast and Mike Rheam also just became the first in the United States to offer summer heli-biking. The idea behind heli-biking is to give riders the opportunity to reach isolated places that would normally be inaccessible by bike.
Our guests are searching for unique, undiscovered, authentic vacation experiences, and heli-biking is just one more way we can provide that for them
“Our guides are the best in the business, and we really make it fun for every level biker" Moe explained. "If you like being mellow, we can accommodate that, or if you like pioneering steep runs that may have never been biked before, we can serve that up to you. It’s a fun, exciting way to experience the amazing Alaska range that we have access to at Tordrillo Mountain Lodge."
"We’re completely removed off-the-grid, but we still have a higher level of luxury and service with a sauna, hot tub, massages, and private chefs. Because we’re so close to the Tordrillo mountain range, we can mobilize late in the day to go heli-biking at 2PM and still get a great day of riding in.”
Your trip begins by loading your bike onto a helicopter, to carry it out into the wilderness where you could finally start the ride.
This is where the undiscovered roads and landscapes surround you and you understand you are among a few people having a chance to discover this lost beauty from the back of a bike. At the end of the trip, the helicopter returns to pick you and your bike up.
Heli-biking just wrapped for this season as they gear up for heli-skiing, but will be offered again next year from July through September, and the resort is already taking reservations for next year. Packages include roundtrip flight via float plane, lodging, meals, professional guide services, and all recreational equipment & gear. Rates start at $1,000/night and 7-night packages are $6,600.
Don’t be disappointed if you’ve missed your summer tour in Tordrillo Mountain Lodge this year. In winter this Alaskan resort could demonstrate its uniqueness to the most experienced skier.
Tordrillo was one of the first resorts in the USA to begin offering visitors the opportunity to use a helicopter to access remote landscapes, the first tour offered almost 20 years ago.
While staying at Tordrillo, visitors not only can discover they most unusual ski experience but also relax at the luxurious cabins, enjoy meals cooked by five-star chefs, recover energy in the hot tubs, saunas, and massage services.
