Going Long: Bombardier extends range of its Global 7000
Bombardier is extending the range of its flagship Global 7000 aircraft by 300 nautical miles, pushing it to 7,700nm. This comes 18 months into the flight test campaign under which it flies a total of 5 aircrafts. The Global 7000 should enter service by the second half of 2018.
"Not only are we standing by our commitment to begin delivering Global 7000 aircraft this year, we are exceeding expectations along the way" commented David Coleal, Bombardier Business Aircraft's president at ABACE.
This range extension will allow the aircraft to fly non-stop from New York to Hong Kong and from Singapore to San Francisco at Mach 0.85. This brings the aircraft closer to what was expected of the Global 8000 and its 7,900 nm range. Bombardier has not yet released plans for its development.
In addition to superior range, the aircraft also has an increased speed having shown that it hitting Mach 0.995 during test flights. Its highest certified speed is set at 0.925. Spread into four cabin areas, the aircraft is the flagship of Bombardier's business jet fleet.
