Cessna XLS+ business jet success at ABACE 2019 in China

As part of the Shanghai Exhibition ABACE 2019, the Civil Aviation Administration of China ordered eight Citation XLS + airplanes for the flight inspection center (CFIC, China Flight Inspection Center). The transfer of the aircraft is scheduled from 2019 to 2021.

Recall that Cessna Aircraft and China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA) created a joint venture for assembling business jets Citation XLS + back in 2013 (the joint venture is called Cessna-Avic Aircraft (Zhuhai)).

“This recent order by the CFIC demonstrates the Center’s continued confidence in the products and services provided by Textron Aviation,” said Kevin Wu, international vice president of sales, Greater China and Mongolia. “We continue to fully support the operations of the CFIC and its mission to propel the development of the civil aviation safety system in China.”

Under the agreement, the American manufacturer provides a joint venture with the main components of the aircraft, and the final assembly is carried out in the city of Zhuhai. “The new company at the production facilities in Zhuhai is also engaged in painting aircraft, installing interiors, setting up additional equipment, flight tests before handing over to the customer and delivering Citation XLS + aircraft. Now business jets will be assembled exclusively for Chinese customers, but in the future the sales geography may increase, ”commented company representatives. The joint venture is managed by Board members from Textron Aviation and CAIGA.

The Citation XLS + was launched in 2006 and is an evolution of the most successful business class aircraft and the best-selling aircraft in the middle class aircraft category. The cabin has been completely redesigned and has become even more in line with the executive class of such aircraft as the Sovereign and Citation X. The largest external feature is the nose of the aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney PW545C turbofan engines with the FADEC system, which controls the engines and reduces the load on the crew during the flight. The aircraft is equipped with a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics kit, with 4 color LCD displays, replacing the previous Honeywell Primus 1000 set.

The updated model retained the XLS performance and received improved avionics. Powerful PW545C Pratt & Whitney engines, along with a large wing span, increased the flight range by 300 km. It should be said separately about the additional amenities for passengers, which are demonstrated by the cabin of this business jet, which, thanks to its dimensions, makes it possible to avoid movement constraints even during a long flight. Salon medium business jet, in which most people can freely stand and move with ease - a rare find. Modern equipment, representing Internet access, satellite phone, Airshow passenger warning system, stereo, CD / DVD player and LCD monitors create ideal conditions for relaxing in flight. The range of the aircraft is 3889 km.
